BCCI said, “The BCCI is pleased to announce the successful bidders (subject to completion of certain documents and other formalities): first, RPSG Ventures Limited – Lucknow (Rs 7,090 crore). Second, Irelia Company Pte Ltd (CVC Capital Partners) – Ahmedabad (Rs 5,625 crore).’ The board said that the 2022 season of IPL will have 10 teams and 74 matches will be played. Each team will play seven matches on the home ground and seven on the opposing team’s ground.

Goenka is delighted to return to the IPL and thereafter as a full-time owner. The two bidders who were interested in the Invitation of Tender (ITT) were from outside India which reflects the global appeal of IPL as a sports asset.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah also welcomed the two new companies joining the Board. “It is an important day for all of us and I would formally welcome RPSG Ventures Ltd and Irelia Company Pte Ltd to the IPL,” Shah said.
