Under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the team of Chennai Super Kings was successful in winning the title of IPL 2021. Under the captaincy of Mahi, CSK captured the IPL trophy for the fourth time. Dhoni made it clear after the final match that he will be seen playing in the glare of IPL next year as well. But, the big question arose whether Mahi would be seen in the yellow jersey next season also or would he join the new team in the mega auction. CSK owner N Srinivasan has put the brakes on all these discussions. He has made it clear that the Chennai Super Kings team cannot be imagined without Dhoni.
“Dhoni is an integral part of CSK, Chennai and Tamil Nadu,” Srinivasan told reporters after visiting Lord Venkatachalapati’s temple with the IPL trophy. Without Dhoni there is no CSK and without CSK there is no Dhoni. The former BCCI (Cricket Board of India) president also said that Dhoni cannot be imagined without Chennai Super Kings, which shows the deep bond between the legendary cricketer and this franchise team. Dhoni has been a part of this team since 2008 and under his leadership, the team has been successful in becoming champions in the years 2010, 2011, 2018 and this year.
Recently, the CSK management confirmed the retention of Dhoni in the mega auction. Talking to ANI, a CSK official said that first the retention card will be used to retain the captain. This is a fact. Written is not something we do not know about. It doesn’t matter in Dhoni’s case. In his case, that would be a secondary thing. Because the first retention card will be used for them. The team needs Dhoni and rest assured he will be back next year.
