In the IPL, it is raining heavily for fours and sixes, but scoring a century in this format of 20 overs is not an easy task. However, many batsmen have scored centuries in this famous T20 league and many Indian names have also been involved in it. The fastest century in the history of the Indian Premier League has been Indian batsman Yusuf Pathan, who completed his hundred in just 37 balls in 2010. Meanwhile, according to Gautam Gambhir, former captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul has the power to score a century in 40 balls in IPL.
Talking on the show game plan of ‘Star Sports’, Gambhir said, ‘If a batsman does not have the ability to play at a fast strike rate, then you can understand that he will have to play the role of an anchor, but KL Rahul has the ability. It is that he can score a century in 40 balls and why would you not want him to do that. Rahul scored a 62-ball century against Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 and remained unbeaten on 132. Rahul was also seen in excellent form in IPL 2021 and he scored 331 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 136.21. The Punjab team will expect their captain to continue the same form in the UAE as well.
Gambhir said that Rahul’s best performance is yet to come. “We haven’t seen the best performance of KL Rahul so far. He has scored runs but we haven’t seen what he can achieve in batting. He said, ‘He can play a season like Virat Kohli once played. He is such a limited overs cricketer who can score two, three centuries in a season at the best strike rate.
