Legendary South African batsman AB de Villiers has described himself as an ‘ageing’ man who needs to be as fresh as possible to meet the demands of competitive cricket. The 37-year-old former South African captain is currently in the UAE to represent the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. RCB are currently at number three in the points table and are very close to making it to the playoffs.
RCB posted a video on Twitter in which de Villiers is seen trying to send the ball off the field with a hard shot. De Villiers said, ‘It was fantastic. The wicket was a bit damp so it was really difficult. The bowlers were bowling well and the humidity here, we have to sweat a lot and it is good to lose weight but for an old person like me, one needs to stay fresh as much as possible.
Let us inform that the IPL was postponed in May due to the outbreak of Kovid-19 in a bio-secure environment and now it will be restored from Sunday in the UAE instead of India. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will face each other in the first match of the second half of IPL 2021. At the same time, RCB, captained by Virat, will play their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 20 September in Abu Dhabi.
