New Delhi: Former India opener Gautam Gambhir believes that India will start as a stronger team in the T20 World Cup than their arch-rivals Pakistan, while Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan team can make a difference. India and Pakistan will start their league campaign on 24 October at the Dubai Stadium.
Gambhir made a big claim
Gambhir, who played a memorable innings of 75 against Pakistan in the final of the T20 World Cup 2007, said that there will be a lot of pressure on India’s neighboring country. Gambhir told Star Sports, ‘There will also be a lot of expectations from the Pakistani team and if you look at the situation now, India is much stronger than Pakistan. T20 format is such in which any team can beat any team because it is very much an individual performance format and we cannot underestimate any team.
This team told the threat to India
Gambhir said, ‘For example, you cannot underestimate Afghanistan. Players like Rashid Khan can make a difference. This applies to Pakistan as well but yes the pressure will be on Pakistan. He said that Afghanistan players play in the Indian Premier League which has made them a competitive team and they can make some changes.
Afghanistan’s team is hidden Rustom
Gambhir said, ‘I believe that if any one team will participate in this tournament as a hidden Rustam, then it is Afghanistan. Apart from this, he has players like Rashid Khan, Mujeeb (Ur Rahman) and Mohammad Nabi. You cannot take these players lightly. Group one has teams like Australia, West Indies, England and South Africa and Gambhir termed it as the ‘Group of Death’. He said, ‘This is actually a real group. These four teams will hit the ground on 23 October. That day on Saturday will be very exciting.
