Detoxification or detoxifying our body is a popular buzzword. Toxins are involved with the liver, kidney, digestive system, skin, and lungs. When these organs are healthy, they can effectively eliminate unwanted substances. Some ways to rejuvenate our body are:


GOOD SLEEP: Ensuring adequate and quality sleep each night, allows our brain to reorganize and recharge itself as well as remove the toxic substances accumulated throughout the day. This helps a lot in detoxifying our body.

DRINK MORE WATER: It regulates our body temperature, lubricates joints, aids digestion, and nutrient absorption, and detoxifies our body by removing waste products. Release of wastes, in the form of urea and carbon dioxide-can harm if allowed to build up in our blood. Water transports these waste products, efficiently through breathing, sweating, or urination. The adequate daily intake of water is 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women.

DECREASE SALT INTAKE: Sometimes, detoxing is a means of eliminating too much salt or excess water. By increasing our water intake, our body reduces the secretion of the antidiuretic hormone and increases urination, eliminating more water and waste product. Increasing our intake of potassium-rich foods counter-balances some of sodium\’s effects. Foods rich in potassium: Potatoes, Squash, Kidney beans, Bananas, and Spinach.

GET ACTIVE: It is recommended 150-300 minutes a week of moderate-intensity exercises such as brisk walking or 75-150 minutes a week of running. This helps a lot in detoxifying our body completely.

LIMIT ALCOHOL: More than 90% of alcohol is metabolized in our liver. The liver enzyme metabolizes alcohol to a known cancer-causing chemical acetaldehyde. This chemical is then converted to a harmless substance called acetate by the liver. Which is later eliminated from our body.
