Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis on Thursday opened up about his interesting conversation with former India captain MS Dhoni. He explained that this conversation had made him feel happy and humiliated at the same time. Talking on The Grade Cricketer’s YouTube channel, he said, “He (Dhoni) was actually quite honest with me. He understands me very well and he said how CSK will bowl to me and how the fielding has been arranged for me. It was a compliment as well as a taunt, where I had to decide how to take it. I took it as a compliment.
He added, ‘It was very interesting. He told me that it is very clear how some people want to take some responsibility and stay till the end, while others are willing to take the risk early, either try and move on from the game and or leave. And Dhoni finds out within the team. He further said that it is my habit that I like to take the game till the end. Dhoni tested it. Dhoni said that Stoinis is ready to play till the end. I will change the fielding. On the other hand, he does not do this for other people because he knows that the player will hit the shot from the beginning. He explained to me a lot about what he thinks and what he tries to do.
Due to injury, Stoinis had to miss a lot of matches in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. He was playing for Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2021. He is currently part of the Australian team for the T20 World Cup 2021. He scored 24 runs in the first match against South Africa. Australia won this match.
